Acoustic & Tactile Materials

The materials utilized within an aircraft cabin must endure constant vibration, drastic humidity shifts, and stringent flame propagation tests. Achieving acoustic deadening while providing a sophisticated tactile experience is a complex subtractive process.

Vibration Isolation

Engines generate pervasive low-frequency noise. Cabin walls are built in layered sandwich panels featuring honeycomb cores. These panels break sound waves while retaining incredible structural rigidity at a fraction of solid mass.

The Tactile Palette

Passengers interact with materials at an incredibly close range. Wool blends are preferred for upholstery due to their natural flame resistance and breathability. Matte synthetics are utilized for tray tables to reduce glare and hide micro-abrasions from heavy use.
